Claudia Donaldson-Selby, the author, writes from her own Swaziland boarding school experience.   

This is Claudia’s story. She was the little girl in this Boarding School in Swaziland. It is set in 1954 – a year after the Queen’s Coronation and the year the first Swazi prince is born to the King and the main Queen of Swaziland. Although it is a memoir most of it has been written in first person as if it is a film of Julie showing what she is going through.

As a special education teacher, she has taught children and adults with reading problems for over thirty years, and has written four successful non-fiction books in this field. This book is ideal for children aged 8-14 years. It broaches subjects such as feelings of alienation, loneliness and bullying - giving a voice to difficult subjects around religion, politics and culture. This book is set in Swaziland, Africa with colorful language and history of the nineteen fifties.
